BLITZ! AuditDWG: AutoCAD2000 compatible shareware
from IntelCAD Systems.
Version 1.0.1.1
Do you know if, and how many DWGs in your project(s) are corrupt?
Since you never open a drawing without a purpose, you will find files that need data recovery
only when you really need to view or edit them.
Wouldn't it make sense to scan the project daily and find
any corrupt files ahead of time, so that a recovery or restore from backup
could be performed, while there is no immediate need to work with the drawing?
Daily assessment of the state of your DWG data volume, detecting
and tracking of corruption trends becomes now possible with AuditDWG,
our new standalone (no AutoCAD needed) Win95/98/NT tool, that will scan your drives and
directories for corrupt DWG files (all versions of DWG, from AutoCAD2000 (A2K) down to
ver. 2.5).
If there is a bug spreading in your system through xrefs or inserted blocks, running AuditDWG
daily may indicate some trends and help to pinpoint the source. If you had a hard disk crash, or faulty
networking has corrupted your DWG files, use AuditDWG to assess
the damages, then start planning data recovery.
Download the setup file AdtSetup.exe
(1,380,526 bytes) for a free 14 days evaluation. AdtSetup.exe will install
the AuditDWG program files on your machine.
Download note:
If you get the following errors while running the installation:
"Check failed at line ... BSFSPN.CPP"
or "Check failed at line ... ICTRLLER.CPP"
this is caused by an incomplete download.
If you get the above mentioned errors during installation, make sure that the
downloaded file size on your system is the same as
indicated on this page. Navigate with Windows Explorer to the folder where you
downloaded
the file, click with the right mouse button on the downloaded file, and select "Properties"
- the exact file size in bytes is listed on the file properties dialog.
If you didn't get a complete download, try again. Please send an email to webmaster@intelcad.com
if you are
having a persistent problem with downloading the complete file.
Use BLITZ! AuditDWG and don't wait for
unhandled access violation exception to pop up a few hours before your project deadline.
Having more time gives you more possibilities than just using the AutoCAD recovery command (we
all know that there are situations where this doesn't work).
The purpose of this program is to monitor the "health" of the entire CAD data
storage on a daily (or hourly) basis. It is meant to be used for damage assessment and for
finding bad drawings early, rather than in the moment when there is a (desperate) need to
open the file. You will know ahead of time about the need for dwg recovery.
Why use
AuditDWG instead of AutoCAD for tracking corrupt DWGs:
- To check 10000 DWGs on your drive using AutoCAD, you would use some batch program that
would try to load each drawing into AutoCAD. It takes a few minutes loading a drawing into
AutoCAD, running audit, and then unloading. Assuming all drawings are OK (so that AutoCAD
doesnt crash), the scan would take a month to complete.
AuditDWG will do this work in 5-20 hours, dependent on which audit level
is chosen.
- Using AutoCAD will cause the batch process to stop with "Unhandled exception"
alert when a corrupt file crashes AutoCAD. AuditDWG handles error that is
deadly for AutoCAD and proceeds, after reporting bugs in a report file.
- You can use your $4000 AutoCAD license for design and drafting (thats where it
belongs) instead of devoting it entirely for tracking bugs. AuditDWG is
incomparably less expensive and faster, and we will keep it evolving
focusing on DWG bugs.
- Processes multiple drives and directories (up to 50000 drawings in one run).
- 5 checking levels: from [0] - extremely fast, (but checking binary header
only), to [4]
slowest (but including load, object audit, and DXF translation check)
- Reports all files processed to ASCII log file and info about corrupted files (file name,
error found etc.) in CSV format that can be opened by Excel or imported into Access
database.
- Using level [1] and up can identify corrupted DWG files that were
"successfully" saved according to AutoCAD. The whole problem with drawings
that are saved one day and cannot be opened the next, is that the corrupted data set
(AcDbDatabase) is saved while in the SBD (yes, it stands for "silent but deadly";)
corrupted AutoCAD environment (with no errors being reported).
- The AutoCAD database (DWG file) is an extremely complex object with thousands
of cross-references (entities pointing to their layers in the layer table, named object
dictionary objects pointing to entities, entities pointing to objects in a dictionary,
objects owning other objects (each object is allowed to have only one owner
- two
owners of one object means trouble is waiting) etc., etc). When one of these references is
invalid, the drawing is corrupted. AuditDWG will catch many of
these types
of bugs, but it is virtually impossible to predict all of them. Therefore this program is
meant to be constantly evolving, as we will keep adding additional checks following
the discovery of new bugs and our user's feedback.
Free Download of the Shareware (Temporary license) version
Load AdtSetup.exe
(1,380,526 bytes) to some location on your hard disk, then run it like any other standard
Windows setup. This will install the program files and the temporary license on your computer.
After successful installation, start the program from the Start menu:
Start->Programs->AuditDWG
The following are limitations of the Evaluation version:
- The license is limited to 14 days. You can get FREE extension time by sending
the time code to IntelCAD by email.
- A single run of the program will process only 5 files from your DLF list (you can run it as
many times as you like on different groups of drawing files). Hopefully, you have some
collection of corrupt DWG files, from past bad experiences, that you can mix with good
ones in order to test the bug detection capability of this program. In the near future we will
try to prepare a group of corrupt files that you can download in case you don't have your
own collection :)
- The command line interface is available only in the registered version.
Feel free to distribute this shareware version of the program and explore it as per
temporary license. Any questions/comments regarding performance, pricing, features to be added (or
bugs to be fixed), please direct to support@intelcad.com.
We will appreciate any input.
To get the fully licensed and unrestricted version, please print, fill out, and fax to us
the order form with your payment.
The prices in the table are the prices you pay, there are no additional tax,
shipping or handling charges.
Prices include free updates and upgrades for 6 months from the date of purchase.
